Solve : Very Strange, could someone please help? |
Answer» WELL I cant seem to extract the file to a cd. All i get is a zip folder and a iso file I do not get anything that says install will keep trying that is the problem i was haveing earlierI can't understand why some people have so much trouble with this. Download - Pre-Compiled Memtest86 v3.3 installable from Windows and DOS To extract right click on the downloaded file and select the "Extract All" option. The extract option will LET you choose where the files will be extracted to. To build a bootable floppy go the the folder where the files were extracted and click on the Install icon. Have a floppy handy.Hmm thanks for the help. but I dont have a floppy, all I have is CD and DVD Ok, used my cd software with the computer to burn the cd but when I tried to extract the files it says I need a pasword. I downloaded a program earlier today called fresh diagnose. it is supposed to check everything on your computer. The only problem it shows which is probably the problem :-) Under hardware it list it all battery, bios, casche, harddisk, mother board, sensors ect (sensors- This module contains information about your system's temperature, voltage and cooling devices) that is the only one that has a problem it says (an error has occured.. unable to retrieve info. unsupported chip detected.) SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOo,,,,,, Is the chip bad or does the program just not recognize it to scan it. Looks like I will be going on a road trip monday, after I get off the phone first. YikesQuote Hmm thanks for the help. but I dont have a floppy, all I have is CD and DVDIt took 17 posts to find this out? Quote For windows installation begin by downloading either the Pre-Compiled Windows package to build a boot-able floppy disk or an ISO (zip version) to create a boot-able CD-ROM. After the file is downloaded an extract must be done to uncompress the file(s). To extract right click on the downloaded file and select the "Extract All" option. The extract option will let you choose where the files will be extracted to. To build a bootable floppy go the the folder where the files were extracted and click on the Install icon. The floppy disk will appear to be unformatted by Windows after the install is complete.Ok, I am sorry for the mix up. Just frustrated with the computer. Anywho got the install and ran the test 2 time already and nothing. Everything tested fine. Seems today it has not CRASHED at all, but I did not plug it back into the same circuit it was on yesterday. I will see in a few days if it starts acting up again. Dont know what else to check. Thanks for the help and for listening. Will right back and let you know the diagnosisLet it run for 3 or 4 hours. Well I pluged the computer back in it original plug. Did the mim test for about 5 hours today, have had the computer on since 8am and nothing has happened yet. I for the life of me do not understand, but I will leave it pluged in where it is at and see what happens over the next couple days. I dont think we fixed anything dont know why it is running but hey it is running. Will come back with an update as soon as I know for sure. Thanks for all the help Like I said in the original post, very strangeMemTest will run til you stop it. 5 hours should be enough. Is it reporting any errors ? ?Mem test did not run continualy for me, It would test and then it would say test complete no errors found. PUSH esc to continue and upon pushing esc button it would start over, I started it over 5 or 6 times and each time it found no errors. But comp is still on and running 2 days now. Just waiting to see what happens nextWell it has been over a week since my last post. I wish I could say it was because my problem had gone away. But unfortunately that is not the case, I have been so busy just trying to keep the system stable enough to check emails and look for job on workforce. sometimes I can stay on for hour or more and sometimes it will not boot at all. Keep doing the memtest when it will boot with disk in and have let it run for hours at a time, usually run it everyday now and so far have never had it come up with a problem. A couple of times computer has crashed while memtest was running and it displays a lot of scrambled numbers and letters, but in the error section it will still show 0 so guess we are going back into the shop this week. Since the computer is only 2 years old on a 5 year warranty and the new hard drive they installed under warranty is only a month old maybe, what are the odds of getting them to just replace the computer. Any one have any thought on that. peeps are telling me to DEMAND they fix it or replace it all togather. Any thoughts on the mater would be greatly appreciated before I go back to the store.
