Dark side? That's no dark side! Do you know that people estimate that Google has indexed about 0.2% of the Internet? Why are those sites not shut down yet?Saw this on Krebs new blog. Pretty bad... Virus Scanners for Virus Authors

That was my thought. I mean, they're doing nearly the same as virustotal.com and jotti, but just not going to all the bother of giving it to the AVS. The vendors of the scanners being used can do something to make them NOT use their software as a private "pay-for" service. But that all depends on where the Virus Checking Service is hosted. Some countries Internet laws are pretty much non-existent. Quote from: evilfantasy on January 03, 2010, 03:48:56 PM

Russia for example.

Russia is far from the only one, of course.

Just one from the top of my head...came up because of those russian spambots we had recently.Plus there are rumors of North Korea's government promoting and financing computer virus production as a weapon of war against their enemies.Well there's also the hacking "war" between USA and China...The hackers in the USA don't really stand much chance against the "bred" hackers in China...aparently, the Chinese took down about 100 government websites and the Americans just stood there...like a flashbang...they couldn't do anything....and Carbon from Hong-Kong is their leader One server is in the Russian FEDERATION and the other is in the USA. Virtest.com, one of the websites mentioned is definately originally Russian. The English version is obviously a poorly translated version using some online translator. I love how in the FAQ, they talk about making sure your malicious CODE isn't picked up in websites for an extra fee (unless you BUY an Unlimited account).
