Solve : What Course do you think !!?

Answer»

I am looking to do I.T for A level ! do you have any suggestions what the best field to specialise in would be ? The best field to specialize in would be whatever field you enjoy most.

Or, if your in it for the money, do some research on google to find out what pays best.

What areas of I.T. are you interested in the most?I really enjoy fixing things and design ! Well, I'm in the same position as you (sort of).
I had a choice between ICT A level (which, at the places near me, was basically MS Office and web browsing . . . didn't I pass that already?) or BTEC Nation Diploma for IT Practitioners (worth 3 A levels).
I'm taking the Diploma, and specializing in Systems Support (had a choice between network design, systems support, or software design).
As GX44 says, whatever you enjoy most is the best field - don't take a course in something you hate, waking up and going to work at a job you don't like is the worst thing possible.Quote from: Spero-T on August 29, 2007, 04:56:41 AM

By fixing things, do you mean HARDWARE-wise or problems in the OS (virus/settings/programs/stuff like that)Thanks, I am currently working a solicitors, but need to do more I.T based work... I enjoy working with computers....

ILL look into Systems Support

Thanks !

Edit... Reply to Carbon Dudeoxide

Yeah either or, although I reckon problems in the OS would be a bit more changeling Quote from: Calum on August 29, 2007, 05:25:26 AM

Indeed, thats my current situation. It's horrible.

I'm looking to get into the hardware side of things... possibly networking. Although my short term plan is to start building & selling custom builds. I have a friend who has his own small web development business so thats the channel I'd probably be looking to work through. Only problem is getting started.

There are so many qualifications nowadays for I.T. that it can be quite daunting to start researching it if your not entirely sure what area to specialise in. Think I'll be going for either the CompTIA A+ & N+ (MCSE?) when I get the time.

Spero-T, be sure to keep us posted as to how your getting along with it when you DECIDE to go for it Most heavy equipment operaters make more than their counterparts in the IT field...plus they get to run really big machines and smash stuff ! !Quote from: patio on August 29, 2007, 06:33:43 PM
