Solve : windows nt failure?

Answer»

Hi

I need help please;

I have a problem with a custom made PC which is in fact an HMI (Human Machine Interface) monitoring a control system of a gas turbine.

The operating system (Windows NT) appears to have crashed and i'm left with a blue screen telling me of MISSING file problems etc; when i try to boot.

I have the boot diskettes and have attempted to recover the system using them, however, the PC does not have a CD ROM installed and the diskette recovery sequence asks for it to be present, the recovery aborts at this point.

Any ideas WOULD be GREATLY appreciated

ThanksHow long has this machine been running? Is it on 24/7?

If you can copy the (hidden) ntldr, ntdetect.com and boot.ini files from another machine to a floppy diskette and insert into the A: DRIVE and start up you should be able to reach the hard drive if it is the usual mising ntldr file. (You didn't say what the FULL error message was.)

If it is an electro-mechanical failure then you need to take a good look at the hardware.Hello Mac

The machine runs 24/7

Do not have access to the machine until next week, the only info i have currently is of some file errors.

Hardware failure - ok, can check.

Yes i do have access to another machine running the same system and can copy the files as you suggest. Would be greatful if you could run me through that procedure.

Many thanks indeed
