The area of an isosceles triangle is 60 sq.cm and the length of each one of its equal sides is 13 cm.Find its base?

Answer»

Let base x , altitude p and area A
Area=1/2(x*p)=60
p = 120/x
Now applying pythagoras theorem
(x/2)2+(120/x)2=132
Solving equation we get:

x=24, x=10
