1.

Three resistors are connected as shown in Fig. 1.37. Through the resistor of 5 2, acurrent of 1 A is flowing.(a) Find the potential difference across AB and across AC.(b) Calculate the current across the other two resistors.(C)What is the total resistance ?answer fastly

Answer»

Answer:

potential DIFFERENCE ( v ) = R × I

POTENTIAL DIFFERENCE ACROSS AB=

RESISTANCE (R) = 5 OHMS

CURRENT (I) = 1 AMPERE

SO

V = 1×5

•) V= 5 VOLTS

NOW , ACROSS AC

RESISTANCE (R) = ??

CURRENT (I) = 1

now for TOTAL resistance =

by parallel law -

1/Rp = 1/R2 + 1/R3

1/Rp = 1/10 + 1/15

1/Rp =( 3 + 2)/ 30

Rp = 30 / 5 = 6 ohms ------------ eq 1

now by series law ( from eq 1 )

Rs = R1 + Rp

Rs = 5 + 6

Rs = 11 ohms -------------eq 2

now by eq 2

VOLTAGE ACROSS AC =

11 × 1 = 11 volts

B) now voltage across R2 AND R3

BY EQUATION 1

RESISTANCE= 5 OHMS

CURRENT = 1 AMPERE

HENCE

VOLTAGE = 5 × 1

= 5 volts

now

c) total resistance = 11 ohms ( from eq 2)
