1.

Two coherent sources whose intensity ratio is 25:1 produce interference fringes. Calculatethe ratio of amplitudes of light waves coming from them

Answer»

Answer ✡

✡ Concept ✡

Intensity of LIGHT is DIRECTLY proportional to its amplitude.

I ∝A^{2}

✡ Process ✡

It is given that the intensity is in  the RATIO 25:1. So, by USING the above concept, we can say that amplitude will be square root of the intensity.

\frac{I_1}{I_2} =\frac{25}{1}

\frac{A_1^{2} }{A_2^{2} } =\frac{25}{1}

\frac{A_1}{A_2} =\frac{5}{1}

So, the amplitudes will be in the ratio 5:1
