Why does an aqueous solution of an acid conduct electricity ?

Answer»

Solution :a) The presence of hydrogen (`H^(+)`) or hydronium(`H_(3)O^(+)`) ions in the aqueous solution of an acid are responsible for conducting ELECTRICITY
b) Plaster of Paris is prepared by heating gypsum to a temperature of `100^(@)C` the FOLLOWING reaction TAKES place :
`CaSO_(4). 2H_(2)O to CaSO_(4). (1)/(2)H_(2)O + 1 (1)/(2)H_(2)O`
On mixing with water it converts to a hard mass to form gypsum again i,e the reverse reaction takes place.
