Answer» Initially to be put in an orbit around the planet , energy is required in the form of kinetic energy or speed of the satellite. Once the satellite has sufficient speed, the central force (gravitational force)between the planet and the satellite (weight) acts on the satellite. The effect is that satellite changes direction continuously to move in a circular or elliptic orbit around the planet. As there is no friction, there is no loss of energy. There is no radiation in this process.Also the gravitational force is conservative.
