Why is there difficult to take breath in deep well?? ​

I WOULD guess that, since CARBON dioxide is more dense than 'air' that you breathe, it has sank into the well and fills it.Similar THINGS happen with those deck lantern/candles that don't have holes in the bottom: eventually the carbon dioxide builds up and suffocates the FUEL for the CANDLE flame — oxygen. The flame goes out as a result. For the well, there isn't enough viable 'air' to breathe for you.
