Why thin section of minerals are observed in plane polarized light?

Answer»

ANSWER:

On passing through the polariser, the light is POLARIZED and now vibrates in a single plane. This is called plane-polarized light (PPL). In most UK microscopes the polariser is oriented to give an E-W VIBRATING incident light. One or two DIAPHRAGMS may be located below the stage.
