what is reflex action ? and give some examples of reflex action.

Answer»

A reflex, or reflex action, is an involuntary and nearly instantaneous movement in response to a stimulus. A reflex is made possible by neural pathways called reflex arcs which can act on an impulse before that impulse reaches the brain.

example- An example of a monosynaptic reflex is the patellar (knee jerk) reflex.

A SPONTANEOUS SUDDEN INVOLUNTARY MOTOR EFFECTOR RESPONSE DUE TO A SENSORY STIMULUS IS CALLED REFLEX ACTION.EXAMPLE - IMMEDIATELY REMOVAL OF HAND AFTER CONTACT WITH WARM WATER.

2058.

Write one main difference between asexual and sexual mode of reproduction. Whichspecies is likely to have comparatively better chances of survival -the one reproducingasexually or the one reproducing sexually ? Give reason to justify your answer.

Answer»

Species which is reproduced by sexual reproductions is more likely to have better chances of survival than the one with asexual reproduction. In asexual reproduction, mostly only one parent is present and the exact copy of parent is being produced as progeny therefore no genetic variation is observed. whereas in sexual reproduction, fusion of gametes takes place which includes genetic variation and hence Bette chances of survival.

a. The placenta is composed of both maternal tissue and tissue derived from the embryo. Thechorionisthe embryonic-derived portion of the placenta. It is composed of trophoblasts, which you may remember are the cells that made up the outer cell layer of the blastocyst.

The placenta serves as an interface between the mother and the developing fetus and has three main jobs:

Attach the fetus to the uterine wall

Provide nutrients to the fetus

Allow the fetus to transfer waste products to the mother's blood

36. Why do a food chain has only two on three levels?

Answer»

A food chain has only two or three levels. because the food chain has to connect one to another one. so food chain has only two or three levels. but food web has more.

Answer:

Because so much energy is lost to life processes.

Explanation:

As you progress through each trophic, each organism on that level loses energy gained from the previous trophic. This is due to losing energy through wasted material (e.g. bones) and to life processes, 7 of which can be remembered by MRS GREN:

MovementRespirationSensitivity

GrowthReproductionExcretionNutrition

This means that each time, energy is wasted and lost from the food chain. More than four trophics would result in so much energy being lost from the initial trophic (producer), that it would be largely pointless! This is shown very well in the diagram below:

Food chain consists of only 3 or 4 steps as food chain is the chain of animals which haves 3 or 4 types known as:producers, primary consumers, secondary consumers, tertiary consumers.

becoz due to 10% law there is transfer of only 10% of energy to the next trophic levels hence the levels are limited .

ANIMAL CELLHentify ich of the lead rol es in the cagran below29

Answer»

Animal Cell Structure

Animal cells are typical of the eukaryotic cell, enclosed by a plasma membrane and containing a membrane-bound nucleus and organelles. Unlike the eukaryotic cells of plants and fungi, animal cells do not have a cell wall. This feature was lost in the distant past by the single-celled organisms that gave rise to the kingdomAnimalia. Most cells, both animal and plant, range in size between 1 and 100 micrometers and are thus visible only with the aid of a microscope.

Block Diagram of Computer System ::The Computer systemconsists of mainly three types that are central processing unit (CPU),Input Devices, and Output Devices .

1.Input Devices ::

The set of instruction or information is provided to the computer system or PC with the help of input devices such as (keyboard, mouse, scanners etc). The Instruction or data presented to computer system is converted into binary form then it is supplied to computer system for further processing .

2.Output Devices ::

Output devices of computerproduce or generate results with the help of devices or gadgets such as printer, monitor etc primarily these instruction or data provided to computer system is in binary code so to produce or generate the desired output the system has to convert this data into human-readable form, to do so it has to first present the data or instruction to computer system for further processing or handling.

3.CPU:The CPU is the heart | Brian of a computer because without the necessary action taken by the CPU the user cannot get the desired output. The central Processing unit [CPU] is responsible for processing all the Instruction which is given to computer system or PC. B

2080.

what is vaccine? Name any two vaccines?

Answer»

it is of 5 marks

A vaccine is a preparation that stimulates an immune response which can prevent an infection or create resistance to an infection. Vaccines contain dead or weakened microbes.when these are introduced in our bodies our body starts producing antibodies that stay in our body and fight against pathogens(disease causing microbes).Example:Vaccinia (smallpox)Measles, mumps, rubella (MMR combined vaccine)

A vaccine is a biological preparation that provides active acquired immunity to a particular disease. A vaccine typically contains an agent that resembles a disease-causing microorganism and is often made from weakened or killed forms of the microbe, its toxins or one of its surface proteins. The agent stimulates the body's immune system to recognize the agent as a threat, destroy it, recognize and destroy any of these microorganisms that it later encounters.

1o.. Define oxygen dissociation curve. Can you suggest any reason for its sigmotdal.pattern?

Answer»

The oxygen dissociation curve is a graph showing the percentage saturation of oxyhaemoglobin at various partial pressures of oxygen.

The curve shows the equilibrium of oxyhaemoglobin and haemoglobin at various partial pressures.

In the lungs, the partial pressure of oxygen is high. Hence, haemoglobin binds to oxygen and forms oxyhaemoglobin.

Tissues have a low oxygen concentration. Therefore, at the tissues, oxyhaemoglobin releases oxygen to form haemoglobin.

The sigmoid shape of the dissociation curve is because of the co-operative binding of oxygen to haemoglobin. As the first oxygen molecule binds to haemoglobin, it increases the affinity for the second molecule of oxygen to bind. Subsequently, haemoglobin attracts more oxygen.Hence Haemoglobin is a positively co-operative protein

8 What is osmosis?

Answer»

Osmosis is a process by which molecules of a solvent tend to pass through a semipermeable membrane from a less concentrated solution into a more concentrated one.

Osmosis is a process in which food particles are transported from areas of higher salute concentration to areas of lower solute concentration.

2095.

what is osmosis . demonstrate experiment of osmosis with the help of a diagram

Answer»

a process by which molecules of a solvent tend to pass through a semipermeable membrane from a less concentrated solution into a more concentrated one.

Aim of the ExperimentTo demonstrate Osmosis process by Thistle funnel and egg's membrane.

Requirements:-Beaker, Water, Sugar solution, Egg's membrane, an iron stand.

Procedure for the experimentA wide mouthed thistle funnel with a narrow long stem was taken. Then an egg's membrane collected from an egg is tied tightly around the wide mouth of the funnel with the help of a thread or rubber band. Now dilute sugar solution is carefully poured into the stem of the funnel to a certain level. The wide mouth of the funnel containing sugar solution is now kept in a beaker with the help of an Iron stand. Now three fourths of the beaker is filled with plain water. A similar control setup also arranged but by taking plain water in the beaker and also plain water in Thistle Funnel. The apparatus are left undisturbed for 10 minutes and we observe the changes in the experimental setup as well as in control setup.

ResultAfter few hours we find the level of sugar solution increases from its initial level in the experimental setup while there is no change in the level of water in the stem of Thistle Funnel in the control setup. This observation clearly indicates the movement of water molecules occurred from the beaker into Thistle Funnel in the case of experimental setup while in the control setup that there is no movement of water molecules from beaker into Thistle Funnel through egg's membrane because both the solutions are of same concentration.

Precautions:-The egg's membrane has to be tightly fastened to the mouth of the funnel. The initial level of sugar solution in the thistle funnel should be carefully noted.

Osmosis is the movement of water molecules from the region of higher concentration to their region of lower concentration through a semipermeable membrane

343(a) What conclusion can you draw about the ac-celeration? Is it constant? Increasing? Decreasing?Or Zero?(6) What do you infer about the forces acting onthe object?Ane

Answer»

a) acceleration can be constant which will =9.8m/s^2 when we throw up an object in a medium of absence of air or that object falling towards the group in the same medium with constant acceleration and when a object is moving in a circular path acceleration is constant....after that acceleration increases with the distance when we move in a straight path through our vehicle.and it decreases during the applying of brakes of that vehicle
