I have a question regarding my code.

I'm using VB 2008 and have created a project that uses the Windows built in 'cleanmgr' to clean out old files, and then another FUNCTION runs on to search for spyware.
Each process is set into separate forms - when one completes it opens the next form and closes itself - or at least it should!

"desired process is form 1 opens form 2 (cleanmgr), then form 2 runs - and when complete exits and runs form 3, then 4 and so on"

What happens is form 1 runs the cleanmgr for form2 - but form 1 never closes, and form 2 never displays until the cleanmgr is completed which then displays form 3, then form 4, then form 2, then 3 and so!!

Here's my code:

TIAConsidering that forms are classes in .Net programming, it seems reasonable to treat them as such.

In each form load event, TRY creating an instance of the next form to be shown along with destroying the instance of the previous form.

Well, IM trying to make some autorun program, so that when i open a program, well lets say its Warcraft 3, I want the autorun program to open ANOTHER file when Warcraft 3 Opens. So what im trying to say is, i want an auto run program to open a file automatically upon Warcraft's start up.

Whenever I start up my LAPTOP I GET a MESSAGE that I that the SQLDumper installation failed. I dont know how to remove this, and I am not that great with computer programming. SQLDumper seems to be a component of numerous Microsoft products: VISUAL Studio, SQL Server, Office, and the Accounting program. Do you now or have you ever had any of the mentioned products installed?

This can be caused by an unsuccessful uninstall of the above products. If that's the case, you may have to INSTALL the product, just to delete it.

This is what it says word for word. My husband and I can't make heads or tails of it. My husband has TRIED different things with Microsoft Visual Basics and Active X and I even took off Graboid and downloaded it again, but still the same thing. Does anybody have a clue as to what all that computer LANGUAGE is saying because we are lost here? HELP PLEASE! We can't even get on to Graboid to do anything at all.

You can use an ADMINISTRATIVE share (ie. c$) name. If the IP addresses are given out by DHCP, this code will break. Why not use the computer name?

I need to be able to run a CHECK from LINUX to oracle on a Windows server. Im not familiar with Oracle, does someone know what the query statement that can remotely login to oracle on windows is. I have written a script that extracts the files from a zip file, that dorps into an applications main folder, thus upgrading the folder with new zip file have some same folders . The script works, however when it shows the warning propmt (confirm replace file) Instead of the user having to click (Yes to all) is there a way that I can set that to not appear and the extraction just happen WITHOUT a confirmation prompt. Messages like that can scare users and they may not be paying attention to it and hit cancel then the upgrade wont happen. PLEASE HELP Smiley

The format of the RegWrite method is:

This is hardcoded, but you should be able to resolve with the app. properties:

I know Google is full of 'em.sort of but more like a program that would lead me threw the operations of each command an stuff.You can pick up a copy of Build a Program NOW MS Visual C++ 2008 Express Edition for about $20. It comes with the latest C++ for your computer and is a GOOD crash course in C++. However if you want to work on advanced C++ I suggest the Visual C++ Bible...

Google will come up with many FREE informative hits on C++. You can also download for free the MS Visual C++ 2008 from http://www.microsoft.com/express/vc/ and go this route in you want to save money.

I was SURPRISED that the compiler for 2008 has no RESTRICTIONS, such as with for say my visual C++ 6.0 that cam bundled with a book 5 years ago was an educational purpse only and would embed a blat upon execution for every program that this was not compiled with a paid copy of C++... But 2008 is clean and you can create whatever you want for free. There are some features lacking though in which you would have to buy the package from MS, but for the most part this will do ALMOST all console programming and windows apps.Thats cool I'll have to look into that latter then.

I am building a vb project that has a flash movie embedded into that - that I link to via a URL. I've built this on my Vista machine and it runs fine (tested without internet CONNECTION and no movie loads),

however, my XP machine (newly formatted with .Net 2.0 SP1 installed) displays the following:

I've checked the Movie URL in my VB project, embedded the movie and banged my head against the wall - all to no avail!!

I did check my .Net versions on both machines:

Vista has v2.0.50727, v3.0 & v3.5
XP has v2.0.50727

Would this have any bearing on the issue?

I have no idea what that means. Without an internet connection and no movie loads, how do you know it works fine?

The problem I've since found is that when building the .exe I had to also include the Shockwave Flash Object image holder, along with the other build files (my naivety of VB is showing through!!)

Thanks!You may have a corrupt install. You could try renaming mspdb80.dll in the vc/bin directory. Dumpbin and the compiler may be looking for the dll in two different places, resulting in mismatched versions.

Where is the text box? You can't use console.write to a text box. And you can't have a textbox in a console application.

In a previously designed database, I made fields required by setting the Validation Rule to the [first name] field to Is not null and the Validation Text to "Please enter a first name." I didn't want to use Required = Yes because it gives the user a message that is too technical. This method worked just fine. When the user clicked on the command button to close the form, the above messages would pop up if the field was left blank.

I've tried the same method in a database currently being designed and it's not working. Nothing happens when the user clicks on the close button.

I don't KNOW if this makes a difference but in the first database, the field REQUIREMENTS were on a subform. In the second, the requirements are on a main form not connected to anything else. Also, the first database was done using Access 2000 and the second, Access 2003.

Does anyone have any suggestions as to why this isn't working or suggest an alternate way of making the fields required?

Thanks in advance for any help.Don't really have enough details as to why the original database behaved as it did. What type of relationship did the TABLES have? Was referential integrity enforced? etc.

You can put some VBA code behind the update command button. If you use the _BeforeUpdate event, you can catch all fields in error, put up a polite message and prevent any garbage data from entering the database. Not sure why you would edit fields when the user closes the form.

I'm trying to run several COMMANDS in a batch file. However, the first command brings up a new instance of cmd.exe in the same window (fine), then stops there and doesn't run the other commands in the batch file. Is this not possible?

I need to enable delayed environment variable expansion before running the next few commands (cmd /v). I can run all the commands successfully through a cmd.exe window by entering them myself, but I need to schedule this batch file to run at a specific time.

Thank youProbably not, at least not directly. I couldn't find a programming/scripting INTERFACE for creating or editing a GPO. I was able to find commercial SOFTWARE that can ENUMERATE GPO values but none to make any settings.

I suppose you could program the GUI, but that would take away from the whole Windows experience.

In an Access database, I have a subform attached to a main form linked by the Service ID. There is a combo box on the subform where the user can select names of adults who received a specific service (the bound column in the combo box is the ADULT ID). Jane Smith, for EXAMPLE, could be chosen more than once PROVIDED that the Service IDs are different. The user shouldn’t be able to enter her name TWICE under the same Service ID. Right now, the user is able to do that. How do I prevent that?

i tried that code; the code was quit difficutl for me because i dont know how u program with "Public" ; i usually use private method to solve my problems.

During the 1960s I wrote programs in FORTRAN but I have not been into computers since. I have an E Machine running Windows Vista. Is there a program I can run on this computer that will do math. What I have in mind is:
A + B = C where I supply the values for A & B and the computer prints the value of C. Of course what I have in mind is more complicated but you get the idea. Thanks for any suggestions or recommendations of where I can get more information. Quote

I cant seem to figure out how to make a single input file be read and output into ANOTHER file when its in an array for example

ID Type Name Stock Price
21 Phone Nokia 10 $500
22 Laptop IBM 10 $2000
etc etc etc etc etc

when i try to read this from the input file it will only outputs the 21 in the first line and everything after the space is left out, i TRIED doing this a different way but i thought it was a really dumb way to fix the issue, this is what ive done:

Ok so I wanna download a java COMPILER so I can start praticing JAVA. Ok now I went to the sun site to get their JDK compiler and I MEAN I downloaded it and a file poped up and I clicked it and it downloaded but I dont see a compiler ANYWHERE. Whats the BEST compiler for java codes and where do you get it. If you downloaded the Java JDK, the compiler will be in the bin directory LABELED javac.exe

end it with programming. How can i do that.

Second thing is if abc.exe get executed 2 times, then 2nd time it end it self

form comming into memory how can i do that....i think if statment will

If you know the actual name of the file you want to stop from running then you can PUT it in the blacklist of your antivirus. As FAR as programming is concerned, I can't help you !

secondly- ending a process will require a process handle and a call to exitProcess(). how do you get the process handle? Using either the toolhelp API to iterate through a snapshot, or PSAPI and EnumProcessModules() ROUTINE. You'll need to also create a callback routine in a standard module.

your second problem will require the usage of the same API to query wether the appropriate EXECUTABLE is in memory.

im a new programmer learning c++. right now im trying to teach myself c++ by programming little GAMES. im and trying to have the USER pick a space from the board(using multidimensional array representing a country) and from there open up another multidimensional array displaying a playing field. each space on the playing field will hold two numbers representing men and horses.

im trying to do this using structs and as little if statements as possible.
and the whole thing is im trying to PUT an array INSIDE a array, that is inside a array.

Once you decide which object you need, research on the internet will help you with the properties and methods. An editor/ide with intellitype or an object browser is very helpful but is no substitute for the object documentation.
