Write your speech in not more than 120 words. It is Road Safety Week at a school. One of the students is requested to give a short speech on road safety. Write a speech stressing the importance of road safety and making some practical suggestions for students.

Answer»

Dear friends,

Have you ever visited the Intensive Care Unit or Trauma Centre of a hospital? If not, you should do so without losing time because when you make a visit to these centres, you get to see the pitiable condition of accident victims. You will see youngsters, who had their whole life in front of them, lying with their limbs amputated. You have the dear ones of these victims, some of from are in a vegetable condition, sitting next to them, hoping that their sons or daughters would open their eyes and recognize them. What is behind all this grief? Lack of road safety.

I’m here to address you on road safety as our college is celebrating Road Safety Week in association with the RTO. I want to create awareness about the traffic rules to be followed. Isn’t it ironic that we have to be fined rules which have been formulated for our own safety?

Dear friends, when you speed up, when you abstain from wearing a helmet, when you use the mobile while driving, please remember that it’s your life and you can’t play with your life. Be careful, be safe and don’t endanger the safety of others. Thank you.

Have a safe future.

If 5 men with 7 boys can earn Rs. 4185 in 7 days and 2 men with 3 boys can earn Rs. 1230 in 5 days, in what time will 7 men with 6 boys earn Rs. 21189? 1. 15 days2. 20 days3. 30 days4. 25 days5. None of these

Answer» Correct Answer - Option 3 : 30 days

Given:

5 men(M) with 7 boys(B) can earn Rs. 4185 in 7 days

2 men(M) with 3 boys(B) can earn Rs. 1230 in 5 days.

Calculation:

If 5 men with 7 boys can earn Rs. 4185 in 7 days

In one day,

⇒ 5M + 7B = 4185/7

⇒ 5M + 7B = 597.85      ____(1)

If 2 men with 3 boys can earn Rs. 1230 in 5 days

In one day,

⇒ 2M + 3B = 1230/5

⇒ 2M + 3B = 246      ____(2)

To solve equation (1) & (2) we have to make either the number of men or number of boys equal.

Thus,

Multiply by 2 in equation (1) and multiply by 5 in equation (2)

⇒ 10M + 14B = 1195.7      ____(3)

⇒ 10M + 15B = 1230      ____(4)

Subtracting equation (3) from (4)

⇒ B = Rs. 34.3 per day

Substituting this in any of the equation (1) or (2) we can find the daily wage of 1 man.

Thus, solving equation (2)

⇒ 2M + 3 × 34.3 = 246

⇒ 2M = 246 – 102.9

⇒ M = Rs. 71.55 per day

Now, daily wage of 7M + 6B

⇒ 7 × 71.55 + 6 × 34.3

⇒ 500.85 + 205.8

⇒ Rs. 706.65

Required number of days = 21189/706.65

⇒ 30 days (approx).

∴ Time will 7 men with 6 boys earn Rs. 21189 in 30 days.

Radiation of frequency \( v \) is incident on a photosensitive metal. The maximum kinetic energy of photoelectric is \( E \). When the frequency of the incident radiation is doubled, what is the maximum kinetic energy of the photoelectrons?(a) \( 4 E \)(b) \( 2 E \)(c) \( E+h v \)(d) \( E-h v \)

Answer»

Answer: (c) \(E+h\nu\)

Energy of incident ray = threshold energy + (K.E)max

\(h\nu=(h\nu_0)+E....(1)\)

\(\Rightarrow E=h\nu-h\nu_0\)

In the second case, threshold energy remains the same

\(h(2\nu)=(h\nu_0)+(K.E)_{max}....(2)\)

By (1) & (2) eqn

(K.E)max=\([h\nu-h\nu_0]+h\nu\)

\(K.E = E+h\nu\)

Describe the internal structure of uterus.

Answer»

Uterus is found in female body which is single and it is also called womb. The shape of the uterus is like an inverted pear. It is supported by ligament attached to the pelvic wall. The uterus opens into vagina through a narrow cervix. The cavity of the cervix is called cervical canal which alongwith vagina forms the birth canal. The wall of the uterus has three layers of tissue. The external thin membranous perimetrium, middle thick layer of smooth muscles myometrium and inner glandular layer called endometrium that lines the uterine cavity. The endometrium undergoes cyclical changes during menstrual cycle while the myometrium exhibits strong contraction during delivery of the baby.

Mention different indirect ways of transmission diseases?

Answer»

Following are the indirect ways of the transmission of diseases:–

(a) Vehicle borne transmission – When transmission of infection occur through water, food, blood, tissue and organ, it is called vehicle borne transmission. For example, Typhoid, Cholera, Dysentry, Hepatitis, etc.

(b) Vector borne transmission – When diseases are transmitted through a vector, it is called vector borne transmission. Ex-Malaria.

(c) Air borne transmission – When droplet nuclei and infected dust are responsible for transmission, it is called air borne transmission. For example Influenza, Tuberculosis etc.

(d) Fomite borne transmission – Apart from air and water, non-living substances are responsible for the transmission of disease, then it is called fomite borne transmission. For example–dirty cloth, handkerchief, cup, glass, which produce the diesease like typhoid & infection of eye and skin.

(a) Differentiate between : Autogamy, Geitonogamy and Xenogamy (b) Explain the events that occur during pollen-pistil interaction.

Answer»

(a) Autogamy – Pollination is achieved within the same flower. Tansfer of pollen grains from the anther to stigma of the same flowr. Autogamy is such flowers requires synchrony in pollen release and stigma respectively.

Geitonogamy – Transfer of pollen grains from the anther to the stigma of another flower of the same plant. Although geiotonogamy is functionally cross-polination involving pollinating agent, genetically. It is similar to autogamy since the pollen grains come from the same plant.

Xenogamy – Transfer of pollen grains from the anther to the stigma of a different plant. This is the pollination which brings genetically different types of pollen grains to the stigma.

(b) A special character of sexual reproduction in angiosperm is the interaction of pollengrain, male gametophyte with massive sporophytic tissue of pistil (stigma and style) before discharging the male gametes near the egg. Only after the elucidation of self-incompatibility, the importance of pollen-pistil interactions become apparent. All events from falling of pollengrains on stigma to the entering of pollentube into the ovule is called pollen-pistil interaction. The sequences of pollen pistil interaction are–

Pollen on stigma

      ↓

Pollen adhesion

     ↓

Pollen hydration

      ↓

Pollen germination

      ↓

Pollen tube into the stigma

           ↓
