The path of non-violence shown by a number of sages is a way to the theory of ‘live and let live’. Mahatma Gandhi defeated the British Empire and won the freedom for India using the weapon of non-violence. He showed the world that non-violence is not only a way of life but also a weapon for peaceful struggle. As far as I think, non-violence has great potential as a weapon for world peace. A world, based on the principle of non-violence, will be the most beautiful world.

Role of the Revolutionary Leaders of the Indian Freedom Struggle

Respected Principal, teachers and my friends! I’m going to speak on the role of the revolutionary leaders of the Indian freedom struggle. During the days of our freedom struggle, two parallel powers were working against the British rule. On one side there were non-violent demonstrations under the leadership of Mahatma Gandhi. The other side was led by revolutionary leaders like Subhash Chandra Bose, Bhagat Singh, Sukhdev, Rajguru, Chandrashekhar Azad etc. These revolutionary leaders were full of vigour and did everything to terrorise the British. In my view, the revolutionary leaders played a great role in getting our freedom from the British.

• The Udaipur Solar Observatory (USO) is in Udaipur, Rajasthan on an island in the Fateh Sagar Lake.
• The sky conditions at Udaipur are quite favourable for solar observations. Since the observatory is situated amidst a large mass of water, air turbulence which occurs due to ground heating by the sun's rays is decreased. This improves the image quality and accuracy (average between 1-2 arc seconds).
• Multi-Application Solar Telescope (MAST), a telescope for the detailed study of the Solar activity including its magnetic field, has recently been operationalized at the Udaipur Solar Observatory (USO) of Physical Research Laboratory (PRL), an autonomous unit of the Department of Space.   MAST is an off-axis Gregorian-Coude telescope with a 50 cm aperture.

Smoking – A Silent Killer

Ladies & Gentlemen: Today I have come to meet you for a very noble cause. Last week, I came to know that a large number of residents in this area are addicted to smoking. You all should be aware of the harmful effects of smoking. Tobacco causes many health-related problems like cancer, respiratory diseases and other diseases. It is a killer. Besides these, it is a drain on the limited family income. Moreover, smoking is harmful to other members of the family too.
You know that even on the pouch of tobacco and packet of cigarette, a legal warning is clearly mentioned that smoking and chewing of tobacco is injurious to health. So, you all promise me that from now onwards you will never smoke or chew tobacco.

भाईयो और बहिनो: आज मैं आप लोगों से एक नेक कारण से मिलने आया हूँ। पिछले सप्ताह मुझे पता चला कि इस बस्ती में बहुत सारे लोग धूम्रपान के आदी हैं। आप सभी को धूम्रपान के हानिकारक प्रभावों से जागरूक होना चाहिये। तम्बाकू बहुत-सी स्वास्थ्य सम्बन्धी समस्याओं का कारण है, जैसे – कैंसर, श्वांस सम्बन्धी बीमारियाँ व अन्य बीमारियाँ । यह जानलेवा है। इसके अलावा यह परिवार की सीमित आय की बर्बादी है। धूम्रपान परिवार के अन्य सदस्यों के लिये भी हानिकारक है।
आपको मालूम होगा कि तम्बाकू के व सिगरेट के पैकेट पर भी वैधानिक चेतावनी स्पष्ट रूप से लिखी होती है कि धूम्रपान तथा तम्बाकू सेवन स्वास्थ्य के लिये हानिकारक है। इसलिये आप लोग मुझसे वायदा कीजिये कि आज के बाद आप धूम्रपान तथा तम्बाकू सेवन नहीं करेंगें।

Drunk Driving

Respected Principal, my dear teachers and students, very good morning to all of you. Today I am going to deliver a short speech on ‘Drunk Driving’. Drunk driving is a serious problem that is playing with the life of thousands of people every year. A death from drunk driving does not only affect the victim but it affects everyone around him.
After drinking one loses one’s control over oneself. In such a condition he/she can put the lives of others in danger. Accidents can be fatal. One can lose one’s life or become handicapped for the rest of life or can take the life of others. Driving under the influence of alcohol one can be sent to jail and has to face many difficulties. At last, I would like to say that drunk driving must not be practised. Thanks.

The Most Inspiring book/story I have read

All good books inspire us either with the sublime thoughts they contain or the ideal characters they portray. The Ram Charit Manas composed by Tulsi Das is one such book which inspires all with both its sublime thoughts and ideal characters. It is the most inspiring book that I have read. It conveys the noble ideals of duty and sacrifice, It portrays the ideal characters of Ram, Bharat, Laxman, Sita and Hanuman. Its story is representative of human life and its struggles. The battle between Ram and Ravan represents – the victory of good over evil. Its story has influenced the Indian psyche so much that it is enacted every year.

Importance Of Traffic Lights

Respected Principal, teachers, guardians and my dear friends! Very good morning to all of you. Today I am going to deliver a short speech on the ‘Importance of Traffic Lights’. Traffic lights are not taken seriously by some drivers. We often see people jumping the red light and thus putting their lives and the lives of others at risk. Ignoring the red light is dangerous as it may cause a fatal accident.
Here, I would like to clarify to those who do not know the meaning of traffic lights. The Red light means you have to ‘stop completely’. The Yellow light means that you should be ‘ready to stop or move’. A green light means ‘move ahead’. It is safer to move when the traffic light turns green. If we ignore the traffic signals, we can be punished. Thanks for giving me an ear.

सम्माननीय प्रधानाचार्य, मेरे प्यारे गुरुजन, अभिभावकगण तथा प्रिय मित्रो! आप सभी को सुप्रभात। आज मैं ट्रैफिक लाइट के महत्व पर भाषण देना चाहता हूँ। कुछ ड्राइवर ट्रैफिक लाइट पर ध्यान नहीं देते। हम प्रायः लोगों को लाल लाइट को पार करते देखते हैं और इस प्रकार वे अपना तथा दूसरों का जीवन खतरे में डाल देते हैं। लाल लाइट की उपेक्षा बहुत ही खतरनाक है क्योंकि इस कारण दुखद दुर्घटना हो सकती है।
मैं ट्रैफिक लाइट का अर्थ स्पष्ट करना चाहूँगा। लाल लाइट का अर्थ है ‘आपको पूर्ण रूप से रुकना है। पीली लाइट का अर्थ है ‘आपको रुक जाने या आगे बढ़ने के लिए तैयार हो जाना चाहिए।’ हरी लाइट का अर्थ है ‘आगे बढ़ो’। जब लाइट हरी हो जाये तब आगे बढ़ना अधिक सुरक्षित होता है। यदि हम ट्रैफिक लाइट की उपेक्षा करते हैं तो हम दण्डित हो सकते हैं । मुझे सुनने के लिए धन्यवाद।

My Favourite Poet

My favourite poet is William Wordsworth. He is one of the greatest poets of the Romantic Age in English Poetry. He lived from 1770 to 1850. He was born in the Lake District of northern England. He was a worshipper of Nature. He expressed in his poems a new philosophy of Nature.For him, Nature is the best teacher. His poems depict man’s relation to Nature. Some of his notable poems are The Prelude, The Excursion, The Solitary Reaper, Daffodils etc. Critics place him next to William Shakespeare and John Milton. He was a Poet Laureate of England from 1843 to 1850.

Women’s Empowerment

Women’s empowerment is a burning issue all over the world these days. This term refers to giving rights and freedom to women equal to men in every sphere of life. Women are half of the world population. Yet for centuries, they have been treated as inferior to men and deprived of their rights and freedom. But now with the advent of a new awakening in them and some enlightened men, they are reclaiming them. They are now found in every field of life working, competing with and even excelling men. Women’s empowerment means gender equality, social harmony, national development and reduced domestic violence.

Importance of National Integration

India is a land of great diversity and ‘unity in diversity’ is its unique feature. People belonging to different castes and regions, speaking different languages and practising different religions, customs and traditions live here. They have different habits of food and dress. In such a scenario, there is a great need to maintain national integration. Though it is a Herculean task yet if the country is to make progress and become a developed, strong and prosperous country, the divisive forces, linguistic nationalism, religious fanaticism, class and caste differences will have to be defeated and crushed with an iron hand.
