A helicopter of mass `M` is lowering a truck of mass `m` onto the deck of a ship. In first case the helicopter and the truck move downward together (the length of the cable remaine constant). Tension in the cable is `T_(1)` when their downward speed is decreasing at a rate of (g)/(10). In second case when the truck gets close to the deck, the helicopter stops moving downward. While it hovers stationary, it lets out the cabel so that the truck is still moving downward. If the truck is moving downward with a speed decreasing at rate of `(g)/(10)`, tension in string is now `T_(2)`, What is ratio `T_(1)//T_(2)`A. `(10)/(11)`B. `(9)/(11)`C. `1`D. None

The amount of inventory ordered which will reduce the total inventory cost is called ________.1. EOQ2. JIT3. BOM4. ABC

Answer» Correct Answer - Option 1 : EOQ

Concept:

Economic order quantity (EOQ), refers to the optimum amount of an item that should be ordered at any given point in time, such that the total annual cost of carrying and ordering that item is minimized.

  • The EOQ is a company's optimal order quantity that minimizes its total costs related to ordering, receiving, and holding inventory.
  • The EOQ formula is best applied in situations where demand, ordering, and holding costs remain constant over time.
  • One of the important limitations of the economic order quantity is that it assumes the demand for the company’s products is constant over time.

The formula for the calculation of EOQ is:

\(EOQ=\sqrt \frac{2DS}{H}\)

D = Demand in units (typically on annual basis)

S = Order cost (per purchase order)

H =Holding cost

The goal of the EOQ formula is to identify the optimal number of product units to order. If achieved, a company can minimize its costs for buying, delivering, and storing units.

Tough time for touts: 12 held for harassing tourists in city

25 December 2020

Haridwar: Police and the tourist department got hard with touts who harass tourists in the city. Police arrested over a dozen of them on Wednesday and Thursday.

According to Tourist Assistance Force (TAF) officials, a campaign is being carried out against city touts.

“We have arrested 12 touts from different areas of the city while they were harassing foreign tourists,” an official said.

“There are a lot of habitual offenders’ among touts. They are being identified and a database is being prepared,” the officer said. TAF will also make sure the touts are released only on certified bonds. In case of repeated violation, they could be booked under more punitive laws. Currently, there are 50 ex-servicemen working for TAF. They are deputed at tourist spots, but they often find themselves at the receiving end of the touts. Nothing was done against attackers in instances when hawkers attacked them.

“Earlier, TAF used to round up the touts and handed them over to the police. They were then booked under Section 151 of CRPC but were released the very next day. Now, they won’t be able to get away with mild punishment anymore,” the official added.
