1873.

After the French and Indian war, colonists continued to move into areas west of the Allegheny Mountains. The British had promised this territory to the American Indians as part of a treaty signed during the war. To keep the peace, Britain created the Proclamation Line of 1763. The line was meant to define a boundary between the settlers and the American Indians. The British government sent 10,000 British soldiers to enforce the Proclamation Line. But it was ineffective and ended up only angering settlers, who continued to move into western territories.Tensions increased when the British imposed new taxes on the colonists to pay for war debts. Colonists saw new taxes on sugar, coffee, and other basic goods. In 1765 the British passed the Stamp Act. This law imposed taxes to pay for British troops stationed in the colonies. The colonists resented paying taxes without having representation in Parliament.All of these events eventually led to the American Revolution. Hope this helps. {inbox me girls}

HOTS (Higher Order Thinking Skills)The Second Battle of Tarain was a turning point in the Indian history. How?

Answer»

Explanation:

Because it led to the establishment of Muslim rule in India.

Arab invasions of India had taken place before the Second Battle of Tarain, most notably by Mohammed bin Quasim and Mahmud Ghazni. However, these invading kings and generals were plunderers - they looted gold, diamonds and other treasures from India, that they carried back to their kingdoms. None of them were interested in building of holding kingdoms in India.

However, this changed with the invasion of Mohammed Ghori, who defeated Prithviraj Chauhan at the Second Battle of Tarain. Unlike his predecessors, Ghori decided to set up a kingdom and hold territory in India. When Ghori RETURNED to his homeland, he left his slave Qutubdin AIBAK in charge of his Indian territories. Aibak did not remain idle - he conquered more land for his master. After Ghori’s death, Aibak claimed his master’s Indian territories and declared himself Sultan (or king). He set up the Mamluk (or slave) dynasty in India, and was the first Sultan of the Delhi Sultanate - a sequence of five dynasties that ruled a large section of Indian land for over three hundred years, until the invasion of Babar and the beginning of Mughal rule.

Thus, the Second battle of Tarain resulted in the formation of the Delhi Sultanate, and marked the beginning of Muslim rule in India. The Arabs brought with them their culture, arts, music, architecture and food articles, as WELL as new and superior mechanisms of war. The Delhi Sultanate irrevocably altered Indian politics and culture, and created entirely new ways of life that were FUSIONS of Indian and Arab culture.

Thus, the second battle of Tarain was a turning point in Indian history, much like the First Battle of Panipat (that established Mughal rule in India) and the Battle of Plassey (that established British COLONIAL rule in India).

Answer»

Explanation:

5.The medieval period has witnessed the spread of PEASANT societies, the rise of regional and imperial state formations, the development of Hinduism and ISLAM as major religions, and the arrival of European trading companies.

Reasons forests are destroyed

The World Bank estimates that about 3.9 million square miles (10 million square km) of forest have been lost since the beginning of the 20th century. In the past 25 years, forests shrank by 502,000 square miles (1.3 million square km) — an area bigger than the size of South Africa. In 2018, The Guardian REPORTED that every second, a chunk of forest equivalent to the size of a soccer field is lost.

Often, deforestation occurs when forested area is cut and cleared to make way for agriculture or grazing. The Union of Concerned Scientists (UCS) reports that just four commodities are responsible for tropical deforestation: beef, soy, palm oil and wood products. UCS estimates that an area the size of Switzerland (14,800 square miles, or 38,300 square km) is lost to deforestation every year.

Natural fires in tropical forests tend to be rare but intense. Human-lit fires are commonly used to clear land for agricultural use. First, valuable timber is harvested, then the remaining vegetation is burned to make way for crops like soy or cattle grazing. In 2019, the number of human-lit fires in Brazil skyrocketed. As of August 2019, more than 80,000 fires burned in the Amazon, an increase of almost 80% from 2018, National Geographic reported.

Effects of deforestation

Forests can be found from the tropics to high-latitude areas. They are home to 80% of terrestrial biodiversity, containing a wide array of trees, plants, animals and microbes, according to the World Bank, an international financial institution. Some places are especially diverse — the tropical forests of New Guinea, for example, contain more than 6% of the world's species of plants and animals.

Forests provide more than a home for a diverse collection of living things; they are also an IMPORTANT resource for many around the world. In countries like Uganda, people rely on trees for firewood, timber and charcoal. Over the past 25 years, Uganda has lost 63% of its forest cover, Reuters reported. Families send children — primarily girls — to collect firewood, and kids have to trek farther and farther to get to the trees. Collecting enough wood often takes all day, so the children miss school.

According to a 2018 FAO report, three-quarters of the Earth’s freshwater comes from forested watersheds, and the loss of trees can affect water quality. The UN's 2018 State of the World's Forests report found that over half the global population RELIES on forested watersheds for their drinking water as well as water used for agriculture and industry.
