19811.

What were the social and economic conditions of india during first world war?

Answer»
The war operations in Europe sucked huge quantities of basic commodities like wheat, rice, sugar, tea, coffee etc. The accelerated export of the items from India caused scarcity in the domestic market. Prices rose sharply bringing immense distress to the low and middle class consumers. The food prices plunged as high as 93%.

Jute bag was among the non-food item that was in great demand in the war front. Huge numbers of jute bags had to be procured and rushed to the war front. Such procurement caused acute SHORTAGES of jute bags at home.

A group of entrepreneurs who BAGGED war supply contracts, however, made windfall profits in a short time.

Large numbers of able-bodied young men from the countryside were recruited into the British army. Such INDUCTION of Indians disrupted social LIFE in rural areas. Villages experienced shortage of farm hands, carpenters, BLACKSMITHS and other such artisans.

Most importantly, as war-time expenditure sky-rocketed, the colonial government diverted a good part of its revenue receipts from India to the war budget. It looked around frantically for additional sources of revenue. As a part of this drive, it increased taxes and duties. All this resulted in diversion of funds from welfare schemes to war expenditure. Tax rates were increased bringing bigger tax load on the common people. The pain was felt across the country.

what is liberalism ? how were the ideas of national Unity closely allied to the ideology of liberalism in 19th century Europe

Answer»

YOUR ANSWER :

☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆

Liberalism is a political and moral philosophybased on liberty and equality.[]Liberals espouse a wide array of views depending on their understanding of these principles, but they generally support civil rights, DEMOCRACY, secularism, gender equality, racial equality, internationalism, freedom of speech, freedom of the press and freedom of RELIGION.

Liberalism became a distinct movement in the AGE of Enlightenment, when it became popular among Western philosophers and economists. Liberalism sought to replace the norms of hereditary privilege, state religion, absolute monarchy, the divine right of kingsand traditional conservatism with representative democracy and the rule of law. Liberals also ended mercantilist policies, royal MONOPOLIES and other barriers to trade, instead promoting free markets.[11]Philosopher John Locke is often credited with founding liberalism as a distinct tradition, arguing that each man has a natural right to life, liberty and property,] adding that governments must not violate these rightsbased on the social contract. While the British liberal tradition has emphasised expanding democracy, French liberalism has emphasised rejecting authoritarianism and is linked to nation-building.

Leaders in the Glorious Revolution of 1688,[14]the American Revolution of 1776 and the French Revolution of 1789 used liberal philosophy to justify the armed overthrow of royal tyranny. Liberalism started to spread rapidly especially after the French Revolution. The 19th century saw liberal governments established in nations across Europe and South America, whereas it was well-established alongside republicanism in the United States. In Victorian Britain, it was used to critique the political establishment, appealing to science and reason on behalf of the people.During 19th and early 20th century, liberalism in the Ottoman Empire and Middle East influenced periods of reform such as the Tanzimat and Al-Nahda as well as the rise of secularism, constitutionalism and nationalism. These changes, along with other factors, helped to CREATE a sense of crisis within Islam, which continues to this day, leading to Islamic revivalism. Before 1920, the main ideological opponent of classical liberalism was conservatism, but liberalism then faced major ideological challenges from new opponents: fascism and communism. However, during the 20th century liberal ideas also spread even further—especially in Western Europe—as liberal democraciesfound themselves on the winning side in both world wars.

Why did the government of india asked pakistan for stop the entry of kabailies?write

Answer»

Hay mate here is your answer ✌❤☺

as the new year dawned on 1 January 2016, six heavily-armed men crossed through a marshy section of the Punjab border from Pakistan into India. Disguised in Indian Army fatigues, they commandeered first a taxi, then a small SUV, eventually covering the approximately 35km to reach the Air Force base at Pathankot. There, they cut through perimeter security wire, scaled a wall, and eventually launched an attack on the base on 2 January, presumably aiming to destroy helicopters and fighter aircraft stationed there. After an operation lasting several days, Indian forces killed the terrorists, who were linked to the Pakistan-based Jaish-e-Mohammad.

Scenes like this have played out on several occasions over the last few decades, most STRIKINGLY in the December 2001 attack on the Lok Sabha in New Delhi and in November 2008 at several locations in Mumbai. The actors, targets, and effects of the attacks vary, but the strategic conundrum for India’s leaders is the same: what Indian actions could motivate Pakistan’s civilian and military leaders to stop the groups conducting cross-border attacks?

Naturally, the impulse for India’s leaders, and indeed much of its population, is to punish Pakistan for GIVING support to (or at least tolerating) the militant groups that attack India. The most direct means of retribution would involve operations by Indian armed forces. Such options could include stand-off air strikes on facilities linked to militant groups or their presumed supporters in the Pakistan military, or perhaps a ground incursion by the Indian Army to hold Pakistani territory. India has been putting in place plans and capabilities—including oft-discussed proactive strategies, otherwise known as ‘Cold Start’—to carry out such direct punitive actions.

Other options could involve more covert means, such as using SPECIAL operations forces or funding militant groups that attack the Pakistani state. Pakistani officials often assert that India supports Baloch separatists and the Pakistani Taliban, for instance, while there is mounting EVIDENCE that India has funded the MQM in Karachi. Yet current and former Indian officials indicate that its capabilities and intelligence assets in this domain remain UNDERDEVELOPED. In any case, due to the covert nature of these options, they could not satisfy public demands for punishment following another attack in India.

Write a short note on Mirabai in hundred words

Answer»

Meera, also known as Meera Bai or Mirabai[2](1498-1546) was a Hindu mystic poet of the Bhakti movement. She referred to the Lord, whom she saw as her husband, with different names like Satguru, Prabhu Ji, Girdhar Nagar, Krishna. She even called him the husband of her soul. DUE to her mother, her in-laws disapproved of her public singing and dancing as she belonged to a Royal Family of Mewar and was a princess. But she had too much love for her god and sacrificed everything, even her family, for god and attained Moksha through Bhakti Yoga. She is a celebrated Bhakti saint, particularly in the North Indian Hindu tradition.[3][4]

Meera Bai was born into family of Merta, Rajasthan, India. She is mentioned in Bhaktamal, confirming that she was WIDELY known and a cherished figure in the Bhakti movement culture by about 1600 CE.[5] Most legends about Meera mention her fearless disregard for social and family conventions, her devotion to Lord Krishna, her treating Krishna as her husband, and she being persecuted by her in-laws for her religious devotion.[1][5] She has been the subject of numerous folk tales and hagiographiclegends, which are inconsistent or widely different in details.[1][6] thousands of devotional poems in passionate praise of Lord Krishna are attributed to Meera in the Indian tradition, but just a few hundred are believed to be authentic by scholars, and the earliest written RECORDS suggest that except for two poems, most were written down only in the 18th century.[7] Many poems attributed to Meera were likely composed later by others who admired Meera. These poems are commonly known as BHAJANS, and are popular across India.[8] Hindu temples, such as in Chittorgarh fort, are dedicated to Mira Bai's memory.[1] Legends about Meera's life, of contested authenticity, have been the subject of movies, comic strips and other popular literature in modern times.[9]
