How to find value of tan 40° |
Answer» You must go with series expansion(POWER Series) of those standard trigonometric functions. If you consider TAN x expansion, tan x = 1*x + 1/3*x^3 + 2/15*x^5 + ………. So we must first convert our angle from degree to radians i.e. by dividing by 180° and MULTIPLYING by π that gives approximately 0.698 as the answer. Then by SUBSTITUTING 0.698 in the series expansion we can find tan 40° value(I have ignored the values of series tan x because our x here is less than 1 and as it gets raised to higher powers the value becomes smaller and smaller which we can neglect). tan(.698) = 1*(0.698) + 1/3*(0.698)^3 + 2/15*(0.698)^5 + ………. => 0.698 + 0.1134 + 0.0221 …. => 0.8335 This is an approximate value and if we do it by calculator we get tan(40°) as 0.839 which is approximately equal to our answer itself. So this answer applies to a general question of finding trigonometric angles of all standard as well as non-standard angles. But for some cases we can find values just by doing arithmetic of standard known angles which uses trigonometric formulae. Eg:- 15° = 45° - 30°, where both 45° and 30° of all trigonometric functions are known angles and widely used in problems also. So if asked to find tan 15° = tan(45° - 30°), takes the form of tan(A-B) which we know. Series expansion of many functions :- Series Expansion |

Write your answers here: 8x^2 y+12xy^2 help |
Answer» Simplifying 8x2y + 12xy2 = 0 Reorder the terms: 12xy2 + 8x2y = 0 Solving 12xy2 + 8x2y = 0 Solving for variable 'x'. Factor out the Greatest Common Factor (GCF), '4xy'. 4xy(3y + 2x) = 0 Ignore the factor 4. Subproblem 1 Set the factor 'xy' equal to zero and attempt to solve: Simplifying xy = 0 Solving xy = 0 Move all terms CONTAINING x to the left, all other terms to the right. Simplifying xy = 0 The solution to this equation COULD not be determined. This subproblem is being ignored because a solution could not be determined. Subproblem 2 Set the factor '(3y + 2x)' equal to zero and attempt to solve: Simplifying 3y + 2x = 0 Reorder the terms: 2x + 3y = 0 Solving 2x + 3y = 0 Move all terms containing x to the left, all other terms to the right. Add '-3y' to each SIDE of the equation. 2x + 3y + -3y = 0 + -3y Combine like terms: 3y + -3y = 0 2x + 0 = 0 + -3y 2x = 0 + -3y Remove the zero: 2x = -3y Divide each side by '2'. x = -1.5y Simplifying x = -1.5y Solution x = {-1.5y} |

If a, b and c are integers such that(cube root 4+cube root2-2)(cube root 4a+cube root 2b+c)=20 then one of the following is true? 1)a+b-c = 10 2) a-b+c=10 3) a+b=2c 4) a+b+c = 16 |
Answer» Given : a , B and c are integers such that (³√4 + ³√2 - 2)(³√4a + ³√2b + c) = 20 To check : which one of the following is true ?
solution : let (³√4 + ³√2 - 2) A = 20 ⇒A = 20/(³√4 + ³√2 - 2) = 20/(³√4 + ³√2 - 2) × (³√4 + ³√2 + 2)/(³√4 + ³√2 + 2) = 20(³√4 + ³√2 + 2)/{(³√4 + ³√2)² - 2²} = 20(³√4 + ³√2 + 2)/{(4⅓)² + (2⅓)² + 4 - 4} = 20(³√4 + ³√2 + 2)/(4⅔ + 4⅓) = (³√4 + ³√2 + 2) × 20/(4⅔ + 4⅓) ......(1) we know, a³ + b³ = (a² + b² - ab)(a + b) let a = 4⅔ , b = 4⅓ so, (4⅔)³ + (4⅓)³ = (4⅔ + 4⅓ - 4)(4⅔ + 4⅓) ⇒20/(4⅔ + 4⅓) = (4⅔ + 4⅓ - 4) , putting it in equation (1) we get, A = (³√4 + ³√2 + 2)(4⅔ + 4⅓ - 4) = 2³√2 - 2 = ³√4 × 0 + ³√(2 × 8) + (-2) on comparing with (³√4a + ³√2b + c) a = 0, b = 8 , c = -2 now , a + b - c = 0 + 8 + 2 = 10 a - b + c = 0 - 8 - 2 = -10 a + b = 0 + 8 ≠ 2 × 2 = 2c a + b + c = 0 + 8 - 2 = - 6 Therefore OPTION (1) is correct choice. |

Show that A ∪ B = A ∩ B implies A = BIn this question I have a doubt ie. what does this question mean. Should we prove A U B = A ∩ B given A = B or should we prove A = B given A ∪ B = A ∩ B |
Answer» LET x∈A then x∈A∪B SINCE , A∪B=A∩B x∈A∩B So, x∈B i.e., if an element belongs to set A, then it must BELONG to set B ALSO. ∴A⊂B.....(i) Similarly, if y∈B then, y∈A∪B Since A∪B=A∩B y∈A∩B So, y∈A ∴ if y∈B then y∈A A⊂A.....(ii) from (i) and (ii) A⊂B and B⊂A thus A=B |
