The word “check’ may be labelled the American National Expression. The British usage confines it to dictionary definitions. Everyone knows what fabulous means but the American usage has enlarged its sense to eccentric, or from a sincere compliment to an insinuation.

शब्द check को अमेरिकन राष्ट्रीय अभिव्यक्ति का नाम दिया जा सकता है। ब्रिटिश यूसिज/प्रयोग इसे शब्दकोश की परिभाषाओं तक ही सीमित रखते हैं। प्रत्येक व्यक्ति जानता है कि fabulous का क्या अर्थ होता है किन्तु अमरीकी यूसिज/प्रयोग ने इसे eccentric या sincere compliment से लेकर एक insinuation (कटाक्ष ) तक का अर्थ दिया है।

First, O.K. is a self-sufficient word. It needs no suffix to indicate any special respect for the listener. Second, it can stand by itself without a ‘Sir’ to conclude the sentence. Third, it is like ‘Yeah’ which seals off a sentence without further ado. Yeah Sir or Yeah darling is unthinkable. Yes sir or yes, darling is conceivable. Yes involves time.

प्रथम, O.K. एक स्वयं पर्याप्त शब्द है । श्रोता के प्रति किसी विशेष सम्मान को दर्शाने के लिए इसे किसी suffix की आवश्यकता नहीं है। द्वितीय, यह अपने आप में पूर्ण है इसमें वाक्य पूरा करने के लिए Sir जोड़ने की आवश्यकता नहीं है। तृतीय, यह ‘याह’ जैसा है जो बिना किसी परेशानी के वाक्य को बंद कर देता है। Yeah Sir व Yeah darling सोच से परे है। Yes sir व Yes, darling ठीक है। Yes में समय लगता है।

R.K. Narayan explains “Toasted English’ with examples of simplified English from American English. Americans have dropped the use of Passive Voice. effective in the post-independence India. We should Indianize English. The knowledge of English has spread very much after independence. The names of schemes, organisations etc. should be only in Hindi. We should not translate into English, such as, Rastriya Saksarta Aayog should not be translated into English as National Literacy Commission. Likewise, popular Hindi word should be written in Hindi itself, such as, “Roti’ should not be translated into “bread’, ‘Ghee should not be ‘butter and so on. Popular Hindi idioms and phrases should be included, such as, ‘Karm hi · Pooja hai’.

Nowadays English has been localised. We have American English, Australian English, Canadian English and so forth. Can’t we have Indian English (Bharat Brand of English)? My previous speakers have also supported the motion. My opponents should comprehend that English is a street language nowadays. Thank you.

II. Good morning everybody
I, Gaurav Gupta of class XI of Govt. Sr. Sec. School, Sirohi stand to oppose the motion : ‘A Bharat Brand of English is the Need of the Hour’. My opponents must learn that English has been the language of the cruel rulers, British. They tried to denigrate our mother tongue. They damaged the Indian culture by spreading English culture. To learn English for the sake of knowledge is right. But it should not be the part of our culture. I hope we should learn from Japan and China. We must spread the acceptance of Hindi and not of English. Thank you.
