Now first shower of rains generally contains some acid which is formed by reacting of sulphur dioxide and carbon dioxide with water present in atmosphere. Due to the presence of sulphuric acid and carbonic acid, after the first shower of rain the petunia flowers turn reddish purple as they are exposed to the slightly acidic water.
