A coil made of insulated copper wire is connected to a galvanometer .i] What happensto the deflectionof the galvanometerif this coil is moved towardsa stationary bar magnetand thenii] Moved away from it ? Give reason for you answer and name the phenomenoninvolved. |

Answer» Solution :i] When the coil is moved towards the stationary bar magnet, the galvanometer shows a deflectionin one direction. Since the motion of the coil towardsthe magnet changes the magnetic field around it, an induced an emf in the coil results in currentflowing through it. ii] When the coil is moved away from the magnet, THEGALVANOMETER shows a deflection in the OPPOSITE direction. This is again because of the CHANGE in magnetic field aroundthe coil, which induces an electric CURRENT in the opposite direction . Thisphenomenon is called ELECTROMAGNETIC induction. |
