Answer»

Solution :Compound .A. is sodium hydrogencarbonate - `NaHCO_3`.
(i) It is used in fire EXTINGUISHERS because it produces `CO_2` gas on reaction with acid.
`H_(2)SO_(4)+2NaHCO_(3) rarr Na_(2)SO_(4) + 2H_(2)O+ 2CO_(2)`
(ii) It is used as an antacid because in neutralises excess acid (HCl) present in stomach .
`HCl + NaHCO_(3) rarr NaCl + H_(2)O + CO_(2)`
(iii) It is used in making BAKERY items because on reaction with acid it produces `CO_2`gas which makes BREAD, cakes , etc., SOFT and spongy.
`NaHCO_3 +H rarrH_(2)O+CO_(2)uarr` + Na - salt of acid
