A green stemmed rose plant denoted by GG and a brown stemmed rose plant denoted by gg are allowed to undergo a cross with each other. (a) List your observationsregarding (i) Colour of stem in their F1 progeny. (ii) Percentage of brown stemmed plants in F2 progency if F1 plants are self pollinated. (iii) Ratio of GG and Gg in the F2 progeny. (b) Based on the findings of this cross, what conclusion can be drawn? |
Answer» Solution :(a) (i) ![]() So all F1 progency have green stem. (ii) `F1 xx F2=F2` ![]() Only `25%` POPULATION will have brown stem. (iii) Ratio of GG : Gg in F2 is 1 : 2. (b) We can CONCLUDE that .G. gene is DOMINANT over .g. and hence most of the population is green stemmed. Also, EVEN in Heterozygous condition (Gg), G is expressed. |
