A linear object is placed at a distance equal to focal length of a convex mirrro. Its image is formed

Answer»

at infinite distance
at the principal focus of mirror
behind the mirror at a distance `(f)/(2)`
in front of mirror at a distance `(f)/(2)`

Solution :When a linear object is placed at a distance equal to focal length of a CONVEX mirror then its virtual IMAGE is formed behind the mirror at a distance `(f)/(2)`.
As PER SIGN convention u = -f and focal length of convex mirror is +ve, HENCE from mirror formula `(1)/(v) + (1)/(u) = (1)/(f)`, we have
`(1)/(v) + (1)/((-f)) = (1)/((+f)) or (1)/(v) = (1)/(f) + (1)/(f) = (2)/(f) or v = + (f)/(2)`
