Let the distance of the destination be x km. 

Speed of boat downstream = (5 + 1) km/hr = 6 km/hr 

Speed of boat upstream = (5 – 1) km/hr = 4 km/hr

Then, \(\frac{x}6+\frac{x}4=1\) ⇒ \(\frac{2x+3x}{12}=1\)

⇒ x = \(\frac{12}5\) = 2.4 km.
