Solution :The substance X is calcium oxide, CAO. The element calcium is PRESENT in bones. On treatment with water, it produces calcium hydroxide as under:
`CaO + H_2O + CA(OH)_2`
Calcium hydroxide is a base. It turns red LITMUS blue.
