An object kept at 60 cm from a lens gives a virtual image at 20 cm in front of the lens. What is the focal length of the lens ? It it a converging lens or diverging lens ? Also find the magnification produced. |

Answer» Solution : ` 1/F = 1/v - 1/u = 1/ ( - 20 CM ) - 1/( - 60 cm)` ` = - (1/(20 cm) - 1/( 60 cm) ) = - ((3-1)/ ( 60 cm))= - 2/( 60 cm) = - 1/( 30 cm)` The focal length of the lnes, f = - 30 cm. As f is NEGATIVE , it is a diverging lens. |
