1.

Compare the time periods of a simple pendulum at places where g is 9.8 m s^(-2) and 4.36 m s^(-2) respectively .

Answer»

Solution :Given :`g_1= 9.8 m s^(-2)` , `g_2 = 4.36 m s^(-2)`
Since `T PROP 1/SQRT(g) THEREFORE (T_1)/(T_2) = sqrt((g_2)/(g_1))`
Or `(T_1)/(T_2) = sqrt((4.36)/(9.8)) = 1/(1.5) = 2/3`
i.e., `T_2 : T_2 = 2:3 ` (or 0.667 :1)
