define play. elaborate all its types

Answer» Play is spontaneous nd natural activity, often done without any aim. Its types are as follow - 1) Play is active - play involves active participation of children. For example, in make believe games one child runs, the other chases him or both cook food together. Similarly children actively jump up nd down. 2) Play is passive - children sit down in one corner nd play house-house w each other, while doing so, they may make one child act as a dog nd make him sit quietly in other corner. Children often play alone with their toys, for hours.3) Play is natural - though no one teaches a girl but she naturally nd automatically assume the role of her mother nd would take up the dupatta like her mother while the boy would take up the role of his father. Both know their roles naturally. 4) Play is serious - in a make believe game play of doctor patient, the doctor pretends to insert an injection. At this same time, the patient\'s expression is serious nd he\'s totally engrossed in his work(play). He actually imagines the pain felt by the patient, who in turn also enacts the pain. 5) Play is exploratory - Children are v curious about everything, a new toy, a new appliance, etc. Their curiosity makes them pull their clothes up as to examine their bodies, open up their toys, put their fingers in sockets to see what is inside. They may often get hurt while doing this.
