Describe the contribution of agriculture to the national economy.

Answer» Agriculture is known as the backbone of Indian economy. Agriculture sector provides employment to farmers. Its shares in the GDP. In 2010-2011 about 52% of the total work force was employef by the farm sector which makes more than half of the Indian Population dependent on agriculture for sustenance. Considering the importance of agriculture, the government of India has made concerted efforts to modernise agriculture.
