It was because of the following reasons:\tDuring the First World War, the British industries focused on meeting the war needs of the army. This led to the decline of imports from Manchester.\tThis created a void in the Indian markets which was filled by the Indian industries.\tDuring the war, Indian industries also had to supply goods to the army.
