King Louis XVI was executed in 1793.\xa0\xa0CAUSESThe financial strain of servicing old debt and the excesses of the current royal court\xa0caused\xa0dissatisfaction with the monarchy, contributed to national unrest, and culminated in the\xa0French Revolution\xa0of\xa01789.\xa0\xa0\xa0GOALS OF THIS REVOLUTION\xa0The\xa0goal\xa0was to change the system, and get food back into citizens\' mouths. The\xa0goal\xa0was to get rid of the monarchy and found a system powered by the people. The main\xa0goal of the French Revolution\xa0was, obviously, to overthrow the\xa0French\xa0monarchy.\xa0\xa0\xa0\xa0PURPOSEWhen the\xa0French Revolutionbroke out in 1789, its main\xa0purpose\xa0was to address the financial problems of the regime. The numerous wars of the eighteenth century in which\xa0France\xa0was involved, e.g. the\xa0French\xa0and Indian War, had caused the government to spend more than it received in revenue.\xa0 | |
