1.

Do equimolar solutions of NaOH and Ca(OH)_(2) possess same pH value at the same temperautre ? Justify

Answer»

Solution :Sodium HYDROXIDE being a STRONG base than calcium hydroxide FURNISHES more number of `OH^(-)` as it UNDERGOES complete DISSOCIATION. Greater the `OH^(-)` concentration greater will be the basic character. A stronger base will have pH value greater than a weak base. Hence NaOH, which is a strong base has higher pH value than `Ca(OH)_(2)`
