Explain the breakdown of glucose in aerobic respiration and anaerobie respiration. |
Answer» Solution :i) In the presence of oxygen : When BREAKDOWN of glucose is carried out in the presence of oxygen in a CELL, it is called as acrobic respiration, Glucose is converted into a 3 carbon molecule called pyruvate which futher breakdown in the presence of oxygen to form carbondioxide and water. ENERGY is released in this process:  In the ABSENCE of oxygen : When breakdown of glucose is carried out in the absence of oxygen in a cell. It is called as anaerobic respiration. This process is called as fermentation in microbes. Ethyl alcohol or LACTIC acid is produced by the breakdown of pyruvato
