Find the equation of a line passing through the point (2, 3) and parallel to the line 3x– 4y + 5 = 0.

Answer»

Given: equation is parallel to 3x − 4y + 5 = 0 and pass through (2, 3)

To find:

Equation of required line.

Explanation:

The equation of the line parallel to 3x − 4y + 5 = 0 is

 3x – 4y + λ = 0,

Where, λ is a constant.

It passes through (2, 3).

∴6 – 12 + λ = 0

⇒ λ = 6

Hence, the required line is 3x − 4y + 6 = 0.
