1.

Give reasons for the following The blue colour of aqueous copper sulphate fades when it is electrodes.

Answer»

Solution :During the electrolysis of an AQUEOUS solution of CuSO4, using platinum ELECTRODES, `Cu^(2+)` ions are discharged at cathode.
i.e. `Cu^(2+) + 2E^(-) to Cu`
therefore` Concentration of `Cu^(2+)` ions goes on decreasing. Hence, the BLUE colour of the solution slowly fades away.
