How are salts formed ? What determines their pH value in aqueous solutions ?

Answer»

Solution :Salts are FORMED when an ACID and a BASE react with each other (neutralisation reaction). Their PH value is determined by the kind of the acid and the base that combine to form the salt. If both the acid and the base are strong then the RESULTING salt would be neutral salt (pH = 7)
If the acid involve d is strong while the base is weak, then the salt would be an acidic salt `(pH lt 7)`.
If the acid is weak and the base is strong, then the salt would be a basic salt `(pH gt 7)`.
