Answer» Solution :(1) By USING mechanical means, the crude oil spills can be removed, but this is very difficult. (2) The BIOLOGICAL way to remove this pollution is done by using culture of microbes like Pseudomonas spp. and Alcanovorax borkumensis. (3) They have the ability to DESTROY the pyridines and other chemicals present in the hydrocarbons. (4) They are therefore released at the place of the oil spills to clear them. (5) These bacteria are called hydrocarbonoclastic bacteria (HCB) which decompose the hydrocarbons and bring about the reaction of carbon with oxygen. In the process `CO_2` and water are formed. In this way, the oil spills are cleaned.
