1.	How do you calculate the valency of an element from its electronic configuration ?
Answer» Solution :The valency of an ELEMENT is determined by the number of valence ELECTRONS present in the outermost shell of the atom. For elements of GROUP 1, 2, 13 and 14, the valency is equal to the number of valence electrons and for elements of group 15, 16, 17 and 18, the valency is equal to 8 minus number of valence electrons.
