If an electric heater consumes electricity at the rate of 500 W and the potential difference between the two terminals of electric circuit is 250 V, calculate the electric current and resistance through the circuit

Answer»

Solution :Given : Power (P) = 500 W, Potential difference (V) = 250 V
To find:CURRENT (I) and Resistance (R)
Formula : P = VI and V = IR
Solution : We KNOW that power (P) = VI
`therefore ` 500 = 250 x I
I =2A
We know, resistance R = V/ I
`R="250V"/"2A"=125Omega`
The electric current and resistance are 2A and 125 `Omega` respectively.
