ln an electric field the work done in bringing a 2 coulomb charge from infinity to a point A is 10 joules and in bringing the same charge to some another point 8 is 20 joules. Find the potential difference between two points A and 8. What would be the work done if the same charge is brought directly from A to 8 ?

Answer»

Solution :Work done =10 JOULE
Charge =2 Coulomb
Potential of point A `= V_(A)=(10J)/(2C)= 5 V`
Given work done = 20 Joule
Charge = 2 coulomb .
Potential of Point B = `V_(B)= (20J)/(2C)= 10`V
Potential difference between two POINTS A and B is
`V=V_(B)-V_(A)`
= 10V -5V = 5 V .
Work done DIRECTLY from A to B .
Work done = Potential difference `xx` charge
`= 5V xx2` C
= 10 Joule
