Answer» Solution :The DIRECTION of themagnetic field produced by a currentcarrying straight conductor. can be obtained by using(i) Right hand thumb, rule, and (ii) Maxwell.s CORKSCREW rule. i] Right-hand thumb rule : Ifthe current-carryingstraight wire is held in the right hand with the thumb pointing TOWARDS the direction of current, then the direction of fingersencircling the conductorgive the direction of themagnetic field . ii] Maxwell.s cockscrewrule: If a right handed screw is rotated along the current carrying straightwire in the direction of current , then the directionin which the screw rotates GIVES the direction of the magnetic field . |
