(ii) In the process of feeding, they use the energy left in dead and DECAYING MATTER.
(iii) If decomposers were not the PART of ecosystem, then the nutrients that entered food chain would temain locked up forever in the wastes THROWN outby the bodies of the organisms, and after death, in their bodies.
(iv) Less and less nutrients would remain available to PLANTS, and through them, to other creatures.
(v) The waste would go on building up around us till all life on earth would be overwhelmed by its own wastes, ifthe decomposers were not there.
(vi) Thus, decomposers are crucial biotic factors of ecosystems.
