Question : How are the alveoli designed to maximise the exchange of gases?

Answer»

SOLUTION :The alevoli are the SMALL BALLOON like structure present in the lungs: The walls of the alveoli consist ofextensive network of blood vessels. Each lung CONTAINES 300-350 million alevoli, making it a total of approximately, 700 million in both the lungs. The alevolia surface when spread out covers about 80 `m^2` area. The large surface area MAKES the gaseous exchange more efficient.
