Question : State the principle of an electric generator. |

Answer» Solution :An electric generator works on the PRINCIPLE of electronromagnetic induction when a closed COIL is rotated in a UNIFORM magnetic field with its axis perpendicular to the DIRECTION of the field. The magnetic field lines passing through the coil changes and induce potential differences. HENCE a cirrent is set up in it. Electric motor * It converts electrical energy into mechanical energy * It works on the principle of magnetic field of electric current. Electric generator * It converts mechanical energy into electrical energy * It works on the principle of electromagnetic induction. |
