Several electric bulbs designed to be used on a 220V electric supply line, are rated 10W. How many lamps can be connected in parallel with each other across the two wires of 220V line if the maximum allowable current is 5A?

Answer»

Solution :As each BULB is rated as 10W,220V it DRAWS a CURRENT.
`I=P/V=(10W)/(220V)=1/22A`
As the maximum allowable current is `I_(max)=A` and all lamps are connected in parallel, hence, maximum number of bulbs joined in parallel with each other.
`n=(I_(max))/I=(5A)/(1/22A)= 5 times 22=110`
