Answer» A friend bought me his Toshiba Satellite L300, to have a look at, as he had got a virus and it would not allow anti/virus/malware PROGRAMS to run even in safe mode. I used Avira rescue disk to boot from and did a scan and it deleted two trojans and one virus. After rebooting into the OS, (Vista home basic), all of the programs had lost there links to start them up, including IE. Is it possible to do sfc /SCANNOW and point it at the recovery PARTITION to resore these links. Or is there a simpler way.
