You have to make it simpler for Merlin. i.e. pulled plug.I have Windows 98
To uninstall my Scanner I switched on my computer unplugged the scanner.  Clicked on Start, then on settings, then clicked on Control panel, then clicked on add/remove programs, found the Scanner in the list and clicked on remove, then checked to see if was in the list of hardware and deleted it there.   Then right clicked on My computer on Properties to find if the scanner was STILL listed which it was and deleted it there.
Then plugged the scanner back on and put the CD in the CD drive and reinstalled the scanner.
I received an error message which said. "device is not connected"   I have had this scanner running on this computer preveiously without a problem. You will have to have the appropriate driver. Why can you not get this?I do have the original driver that is on the Disk that is used for installation and this is the one I use when installing the Scanner but still get this error message.
Agfa no longer make scanners and have searched for an updated driver but cannot find an update for mine. All the updates I have found were for different versions not 1.4 which I have.Try going through the add new hardware wizzard. If that doesn't work, look in device manager and see if it is listed but has problems. If so, use the update driver and point it to your installation disk.
