Solve : All My USB's Aren't Responding? |
|
Answer» OK, I have 6 USB's (All chassis) 4 ath the back and two at the front (All powered port's). Do you know whether your USB ports are USB1.1 or USB2? My computer has both; the two USB ports on front are 1.1; the four on back are USB2. To be honest I dont know if they are 1.1 or 2.0 I did mean 'Universal Serial Bus controllers' in device manager, All my USB ports are listed there and say that they are working properly. When I pung anything in I get no message, no promt, no new hardware found, nothing, the PC just doesn't know anything has been connected at all. They used to work about a year ago, To be honest I cant say I know why they stopped working, or at what point it happened. I use digital cameras, MP3 Player's, MP4 Player's, USB connected DSL modem. So its not just the one thing its messed up on My OS is Windows XP Pro I have SP2 Installed My System is: Asus K8N-E Delux Motherboard AMD Athlon 64 Processor 3400+ 512mb ram 128mb All in Wonder ATI graphics card. Hope that make's things easier to diagnose my problem.I found Internet sources that indicate your USB ports are all 2.0. Do you have USB ports on front of your computer that are connected to the motherboard by SMALL wires? Is is possible those wires got disconnected? This would not affect the USB ports on back of the computer. Even though Device Manager says they are working properly, I think you may have hardware failure as far as the USB ports on your motherboard are concerned. A solution is to install a USB card in a PCI slot in your computer. Here's a very inexpensive card from newegg: Zonet Firewire/USB2.0 PCI Combo Card Model ZUC2400 - Retail. Oh yeah, I forgot to mention. The usb's are still powered. Don't know if that will make a difference Anything else we need to know before we proceed?LOL, no, THATS everything. I forgot to mention before. I have actually ordered a usb PCI card now, so to get them working after it has arrived would proberbly just feel like a kick in the teeth anyway That's rather a new motherboard to have these problems. Is it still under warranty? Other issues may surface as well.I dont think its under warranty as I bought it about a year and a half ago. Does it really sound like a hardware problem? :-/Yes. You can try to reinstall Windows if you would like to see for sure. |
